New Aircraft Hangar Project in Eau Claire Expands Capacity for Region

Hawthorne Global Aviation Services and Chippewa Valley Regional Airport announce the construction of a new hangar project at Hawthorne’s Eau Claire airport location (KEAU). The addition of new hangar space expands capacity for aircraft lease space throughout the Eau Claire, Minneapolis and La Crosse region.

The new 22,500 square foot hangar is owned by the Chippewa Valley Regional Airport and will be managed by Hawthorne. The new hangar will be able to accommodate business aircraft up through the Gulfstream G650 and construction will be completed by the spring of 2023, and hangar space is available for lease.

“As the region we serve continues to grow, the Chippewa Valley Regional Airport continues to look for opportunities to accommodate the corresponding demand for aviation facilities,” said Charity Zich, Airport Director. “This new hangar will greatly increase our ability to capture additional demand for those looking for a convenient and accessible airport option.”

The Chippewa Valley Regional Airport is the premier airport in West Central Wisconsin. With a main runway capable of handling aircraft of almost any size, state of the art navigational aids, an air traffic control tower, as well as onsite aircraft rescue and firefighting capabilities, KEAU is well positioned to serve the needs of aviation users for the foreseeable future.

Two more pilot training programs have been added in metro Sioux City. Carver Aero, which has a Council Bluffs flight school aligned with the University of Nebraska Omaha's aviation program, announced Wednesday it has opened flight training operations at Sioux Gateway Airport.

Hawthorne Global Aviation Services presented concept review plans for a proposed 30,000-square foot hangar and 6,900 square-feet of office space at Chicago Executive Airport (CEA) yesterday at the Village of Wheeling’s regular board meeting. The Hangar 22 project has support from CEA and is in line with the airport’s Master Plan, which is approved by both the Village of Wheeling and the City of Prospect Heights. Click here to read more.

In the latest transaction in a heated FBO consolidation market, Hawthorne Global Aviation Services, which operates six FBOs in the eastern and central U.S., has changed hands. Moelis Capital Partners had owned the company—which traces its aviation industry roots back 90 years—since 2011 and it has now been purchased by a new joint venture between global investment manager Wafra and Nova Infrastructure in a move that will infuse new funding into the brand and could see it add more locations.
